Lt. Commander John Zelinka Recalled To Active Duty

On May 27, 2012 Lieutenant Commander John T. Zelinka reported to Gulfport, Mississippi for active duty and mobilization to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he will serve a 9-month tour of duty as a Staff Judge Advocate. LCDR Zelinka is a practicing attorney in Northeastern Pennsylvania, a member of the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association/Luzerne County Bar Association, and a partner at the Rosenn, Jenkins & Greenwald law firm. He previously served as a Trial Counsel for the United States JAG Corps.

Joseph Persico, the managing partner at Rosenn, Jenkins and Greenwald, said that in the more than nearly 60-year history of the law firm, “Jack is the first attorney from our firm who has been recalled to active jury to serve our country.” He added that, “while we will certainly miss his legal talents for the coming months, we are extremely proud of Jack, and we are confident that he will serve our nation with the highest integrity and dedication to the rule of law.”

LCDR Zelinka is a native of Ashley and a graduate of Hanover Area High School, the University of Scranton, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where he serves on the Military & Veteran Affairs Committee.

He is the son of Jack and Marie Zelinka of Ashley, and is married to the former Stacey Gluc. Jack and Stacey are the proud parents of a four year old son, Jack, and they reside in Mountaintop.
