Rachel Kochuba Graduates From Marywood University
Rachel Kochuba

Rachel Elisabeth Kochuba of Mountain Top graduated cum laude from Marywood University receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree on May 12, 2013. Following graduation and passing the RN exam, Rachel moved to Philadelphia and is seeking employment.

While at Marywood, she was recognized for her achievements by being the Recipient of Sigma Theta Tau International’s Outstanding Student Performance Award and receiving an Honorable Mention-Nemotko Medal for Distinction in Nursing. She was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Scholastic Honor Society. Rachel was a member of the Student Nursing Association of Marywood and the Recipient of the I. H. M. Scholarship for academic excellence.

While at Marywood, Rachel was involved in many activities. She was fortunate enough to study abroad in Italy on two separate occasions; March 2012 and 2013. While abroad, Rachel studied Italian Healthcare in hospitals located throughout northern Italy and became familiar with the variances in cultures from region to region. In addition, Rachel volunteered at Marywood University’s Spring Into Health 5K Walk/Run, Mid-Valley’s Practice of the Wright Center for Primary Care Health Fair, Geisinger-Community Medical Center’s Flu Shot Clinic, Dunmore High Rise Senior Living Center, and was a participant in North Eastern Central PA Interprofessional Education Coalition. In addition, she completed a Student Nurse Externship on the Medical –Surgical Telemetry Unit at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre during the summer of 2012.

Rachel is a 2009 graduate of Crestwood High School. She is the daughter of Leonard and Deborah Kochuba of Mountain Top. She has a brother, Dr. Andrew Kochuba, who is a third year general surgery resident at Montefiore Medical Center, New York and another brother, Dr. Matthew Kochuba, who is a first year general surgery resident at Temple Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. She is the granddaughter of Dr. & Mrs. Joseph Campana of Williamsport, PA, Leonard and Ann Kochuba of Easton, and the late Frank and Betty Cortez of Mountain Top.
