St. Martin In The Fields Planning Annual Picnic September 7

September 7th will be the Second Annual Picnic for St. Martin in the Fields at St. Matthews Grove on Nuangola Rd. It is just down from the corner by the Church. Bring a covered dish or dessert to share and your own soft drinks. The Church will provide the hot dogs and hamburgers. There will be games for old and young, lots of good food, and fun for all!

Have you flown a kite recently? To fly a kite in the wind is a great and simple pleasure that you should share with your children. Well, St. Martin in the Fields is going to give you an opportunity to fly with the experts from the Pocono Kite Symphony. Here is you chance to not only enjoy the outdoors but to participate in an activity that you and your children will enjoy. Watching a kite ride the wind will amaze and touch you with wonder as it dances randomly in its own unpredictable path.

St. Martin in the Fields is sponsoring the FIRST Mountain Top Kite Festival on September 28th. This will be a fantastic event for “children” of all ages and the first one to be held in our area. Each child can sign up to build a kite and then be helped to learn how to fly it. There will be a kite flying exhibition by the Pocono Kite Symphony and a DJ will keep you entertained. Mark you calendar now so as not to miss out on this experience.

October 19th is our annual bazaar featuring fabulous gift baskets, a bake sale featuring our Welsh cookies, the BOOK NOOK (new books arriving almost daily), craft and rummage sale, and plenty of great food. You will be able to stock up for those dreary winter days of snow and ice. We have books for all interests. We are planning on opening the BOOK NOOK weekly later in the fall. For now it will be open on the 2nd and 3rdSaturdays of September and October from 10am to 1pm.

Vendors are needed for the bazaar. There is a limited number of tables inside and in the pavilion.

Interested in learning something new? Father Dan Fitzsimmons is planning on teaching classes in knitting or quilt making this fall depending on which generates the most interest. If you are interested in one or both of these classes lets us know by calling Janeann at 570-868-6895.

St. Martin’s is located at 3085 Church Road, Mountaintop.
