Crestwood dominated host North Pocono in the Comets’ second game of the season on Friday evening, September 6. Crestwood walked off the field with 40-21 win to improve their record to 1-1.
Tanner Kahlau powered the Crestwood scoring attack with four touchdowns. Kahlau scored two of his touchdowns in the first half of play with runs of 15 and 27 yards. A 20 yard pass completion from Comet quarterback Jay Popson to Connor Sheloski put Crestwood up by a score of 21-15 at the end of the half.
Following a scoreless third quarter, workhorse Kahlau tacked on two more scores to put the game away. Kahlau’s first TD in the final stanza came on a 39-yard run. With 33 seconds left on the clock, Kahlau scored his final TD of the game.
In between Kahlau’s fourth quarter scores, Jacob Zbegner added six points on 1-yard run.
Crestwood held North Pocono to 80 yards on the ground, while amassing 366 of their own on 41 carries. Kahlau accounted for 128 of those yards on eight carries followed by Frank Aigeldinger who rushed for 111 yards on 15 carries. Zbegner gained 57 yards on 9 carries.
Popson also rushed for 53 yards on four carries and in passing, was 4-4-0-103. Sheloski pulled in two passes for 59 yards and Andrew Chang caught a pass for 34 yards.
On the day, Crestwood had 469 total yards while holding their opponents to 168.
Crestwood lost their season opener to host Berwick on August 30.
The Bulldogs dominated the Comets en route to a 41-7 win. Following a scoreless first quarter, Berwick’s passing game was unstoppable with 337 yards in the air. On the night, Berwick amassed 469 total yards while Crestwood tallied 164.
Crestwood’s lone came in the fourth quarter on a 50-yard run by Kahlau. Gendler was successful on the PAT.
On the ground, Kahlau rushed for 97 yards on 5 carries, Aigeldiner had 55 yards on 5 carries and Brandon Cole rushed for 21 yards on 2 carries.
On Friday evening, September 13, Crestwood will travel to Pittston Area. Kick off time is 7 p. m.
