Crestwood produced points in all four quarters in the Comets’ game against Wallenpaupack to walk off the field with a 27-19 win last Friday evening.
Frank Aigeldinger scored three touchdowns for Crestwood in the win. The Comets scored first after intercepting Wallenpauck on its first play. The Comets’ engineered a six-play, 50-yard scoring drive. Aigeldinger carried the ball five times, scoring on a 2-yard run. Wallenpaupack responded with a score of their own to knot the score at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Aigeldinger scored his second TD on a 5-run in the second quarter but the opponents scored twice to go up 19-14 at the end of the half.
Crestwood put 13 unanswered points on the board in the second half. The Comets regained the lead in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by quarterback Jay Popson. Aigeldinger recorded his third touchdown on a 3-yard run in the final quarter.
Aigeldinger also shone on defense for the Comets, stopping a potential scoring drive when he made a low tackle from his linebacker position with just over a minute remaining in the game.
On the day, Wallenpaupack held
Crestwood to 201 total yards while amassing 325 of their own but the Comets came up with the big plays that made the difference.
On 16 carries, Aigeldinger rushed for 88 yards, Popson had 45 yards on eight carries, and Tanner Kahlau rushed for 21 yards on six carries.
In receiving, Timothy Tokash was 3-64, Matt Bobeck, 1-20, Connor Sheloski, 1-21, and Andrew Chang, 1-14.
Crestwood (3-1) will host Tunkhannock (1-3) Friday, at 7 pm.
