The Mountaintop Hose Co. No. 1 has received two grants that enabled them to provide new protective gear and dispatched pagers for their firefighters,
Mountaintop Hose Co. No. 1 was notified in June by the Department of Homeland Security that it was successful in obtaining a grant in the amount of $59,694 for the purchase of protective gear for its firefighters. The fire company must participate in the program adding its share of $14,923 to the project. With the funds, the fire company has purchased 30 complete sets of new protective gear for its active firefighters to complete the replacement of its older non-compliant gear. The gear was delivered and distributed to its members on October 13, 2013.
In addition, Mountaintop Nose Co. No. 1 was awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the Nesbitt Family Charitable Trust for the purchase of new pagers. With the funds, the fire company has purchased 25 Motorola Minitor IV Pagers with a stored voice capability. The stored voice capability is a new enhancement for the fire company. The pagers were also distributed to the members on October 21.
