The College Guidance Department at Wyoming Seminary Upper School will host a special forum titled “The College Forum: Local Gems.” The forum will feature admission directors from eight local colleges and universities discussing the value of attending a local college on Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00 p. m. in the Stettler Learning Resources Center, North Sprague Avenue, Kingston. The forum is free and open to the public and is suitable for all students interested in post-secondary education.
The program will offer a panel discussion about the wide variety of opportunities and degree programs that exist locally for students. The panelists also will explore topics such as commuting versus living on campus, liberal arts and pre-professional programs, studying full-time or part-time and the merits of enrolling in honors courses and accelerated programs. Representatives of Keystone College, King’s College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Penn State University, University of Scranton and Wilkes University will take part in the forum, which will be moderated by Jane Slaff, director of college guidance.
The panelists will also take questions from the audience and will be available to talk with audience members after the forum.
This forum is the second in a series of programs that will examine the value of college education.
