The White Haven Area Community Library will sponsor the annual Holiday Quilt Display on Saturday, December 7 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the former De Witt homestead.
Located at 231 Wilkes-Barre Street in White Haven, this beautifully restored Victorian-era home is the ideal back drop to showcase vintage, heirloom quilts as well as more recently made quilts.
The Cranberry Quilters Guild will provide a quilt selection different from previous years. The guild’s members will also be selling some of their handiwork in support of the library.
Local quilter, Kathy Oross will be demonstrating the art of quilting in the drawing room. Refreshments of hot cider and cookies will be served in the dining room and all of the quilts will be displayed in the bedrooms as well as other areas throughout the home.
Kathy Spolowich, guild member and library board member, has donated a beautiful Christmas quilt, which will be raffled off at 3:00 PM. Tickets prior to the event are on sale at the library at 99 Towanda Street, where the quilt is now on display. The library is sponsoring a bake sale and chances for a large gift basket will also be sold.
Tickets for adults are just $5 and children are free. For more information, call 570-443-8776.
