Nescopeck State Park Lists January Activities

The following programs will be held during January at Nescopeck State Park. For more information or to register, please call 570-403-2006, unless otherwise noted.

Wednesday, January 1 First Day Hike; 10am

Start the New Year off right with an energetic hike! Join conservation volunteer Karen Cleveland for a fast-paced 5-mile hike that includes parts of Nescopeck, Creekside, and Woodland Way Trails. Interested participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water and a snack. Contact Karen to register at 570-868-8153. Meet outside the park office. Free.

Wednesday, January 1 First Day Hike; 1pm

Ease into the New Year with a relaxing walk in the park. Join conservation volunteer John Jakoby for a leisurely 3-mile winter birding hike. Interested participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water, a snack and binoculars if you have them. Contact John to register at 570-474-5884. Meet outside the park office. Free.

Saturday, January 4

Junior Bird Club Eagle Watch; 9am –4pm

Join us for an adventurous trek in search of eagles! Dress for the weather and bring a lunch, drink, and snacks for the day. We will carpool from the park office. The Junior Bird Club is open to kids ages 9 & up and meets several times throughout the year. There is a one-time fee of $5.00 for new members. Register by calling 570-403-2006. Saturday, January 11

Nescopeck State Park Winter Trails Day Hike; 9am

Celebrate Winter Trails Day with an easy 2-mile hike! Dress for the weather, bring water, and wear sturdy shoes. If conditions allow, participants will have the option of hiking on snowshoes. Register by calling 570-403-2006. Meet at the park office.

Saturday, January 11

Hickory Run State Park Winter Trails Day Hike; 1:30pm

Celebrate Winter Trails Day with an easy 2-mile hike at Hickory Run State Park! Dress for the weather, bring water, and wear sturdy shoes. Register by calling 570-403-2006. Meet at the Hickory Run State Park office.

Thursday, January 16 Eagle Watch; 9am–4pm

Calling folks ages 18 & up! Join us for a field trip to search for eagles along the Delaware River. Dress for the weather, bring a lunch, and plan to be gone most of the day. Bring binoculars if you have them; the park will have limited pairs to borrow. Limited space. Register by calling 570-403-2006. Meet at the park office.
