STRISH WINS ST. JUDE’S GEOGRAPHY BEE

STRISH WINS ST. JUDE’S GEOGRAPHY BEE -Each year, students in grades five through eight are eligible to participate in the National Geographic Bee sponsored by the National Geographic Society. After preliminary competitions were held in each classroom, ten finalists were chosen to represent the student body in the school level competition. At the final round, held in the school gym, students answered questions on such topics as languages, religions, economic activities, populations, political systems, landforms, and climate. Maria Strish, an eighth student, was awarded First Place and will advance to the next level of competition, a written exam to determine eligibility for the state competition. All state winners are eligible to win the national championship and the First Prize of a $50,000 college scholarship plus other prizes. Jared Bozinko sixth grade, was awarded Second Place.
