RICE ELEMENTARY HOST SPELLING BEE

RICE ELEMENTARY HOST SPELLING BEE-The students of Rice Elementary competed in the annual Spelling Bee at the school on January 28th. Students in grades 3-6 each compete against each other for an overall winner from each homeroom earlier in the school year. The winners from each homeroom then compete against each grade level respective homeroom for an overall grade winner. Third grade participants included Zain Ansari, overall 3rd grade winner; Weston Medvitz, Josiah Gornicz, and Kennedy Zlockie. Fourth grade participants included Shannon Griffiths, Kira Fenwick, Nathan Thomas, Abby Smith, and Reece Mylet, overall 4th grade winner. Fifth grade participants included Mallory Moratori, Marcus Vieney, Alex Covelens, and Brayden Fenwick, overall 5th grade winner. Sixth grade participants included Daniel Gomes, overall 6th grade winner; Nate Kamowski, Garrett Swank, and Chase Adolf. After each grade level winner was determined, the 5th grade winner then competes against the 6th grade winner. Daniel Gomes out spelled Brayden Fenwick for the overall Spelling Bee Champion. Daniel will have the opportunity to advance to the regional level of the Scripps-Howard Spelling Bee competition in Wilkes-Barre. Congratulations to all participants!
