St. Mary’s of Dorrance is a welcoming church. The pastor of St. Mary’s is Reverend Joseph Evanko, and Reverend Gerald Shantillo, Assistant Pastor. The weekend Mass schedule is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.
Confirmation candidates have an extended class next Sunday, February 23. Class will be held from 10 am to 12 noon.
Students are selling Gertrude Hawk Candies. Booklets are in the back of the Church. Pre-paid orders are due by Sunday, March 9. Candy will be delivered the weekend of April 6.

The Knights of Columbus will meet on Wednesday, March 5 after 7 pm Mass in the social hall. The next meeting (Social Justice) is Wednesday, March 12 at 7 pm in the meeting room. This group will meet permanently on the second Wednesday of the month. This team now incorporates the Crochet Group and the Rosary Makers. Rosaries will be made at this meeting. The Crochet Group will continue to meet on Sundays at 6 pm. Members of Girl Scout Troop 33320 are currently working on their Bronze Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting. With the help of the community, they will be collecting household items to be placed in gift baskets. The baskets will then be gifted to the women of Ruth’s Place, an emergency housing shelter for homeless women in Luzerne County, upon successful attainment of their own housing. Items needed include brooms, laundry baskets, cleaning supplies, clothes hangers, etc. The collection will continue through April 2014.
Shroud of Turin-SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church share an opportunity to venerate an image of the body of our Crucified Lord. A Vatican sanctioned replica of the Shroud of Turin will be on display from March 2-15. The replica is the exact size, shape, and color as the one kept in the royal chapel of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist Church in Turin, Italy. The Lecture on the San Damiano Cross has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 25 at 6:30 pm in the church.
St. Mary’s is participating in the Loaves and Fishes Program to benefit the Saint Vince de Paul Soup Kitchen. This month’s item is Sugar/ Sweetener. Baskets are in Church.
