St. Jude’s Parishioners Invited To Join Social Action Committee

Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, March 6 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.

Starting March 1, all winter decorations including solar lights and vigil lights must be removed from Lots and Crypts at Calvary Cemetery in Drums. Articles not removed will be removed by cemetery personnel.

St. Mary’s in Dorrance is sponsoring a Night at the Races on Saturday, March 1. Doors open at 6 p. m. Post time is 7 p. m. The evening will feature a Mardi Gras theme. Purchase a horse for $10. If your horse wins, you receive $50. Food, beverages, and fun provided. Call St. Mary’s Parish Office at 570-868-5855 to purchase a horse.

The Spiritual Care Team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center will host a support group series on Wednesdays during the afternoon or evening. Afternoon sessions are from 2:00 p. m. until 3:30 p. m. Evening sessions are from 6:00 p. m. until 7:30 p. m. All sessions are held in the Spiritual Center, 1000 East Mountain Blvd., Wilkes-Barre. The topics and schedule are: Anger -March 5; How to Keep Growing Spiritually -March 12; Memorial Service -March 19. A VIRTUS training session is scheduled on Monday, March 17 at Misericordia University in Dallas from 4 p. m. until 7 p. m. in McDowell Hall, Room 105. Call 570-674-6761to register and for directions. VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children for Adults Program is a mandatory 3-hour training session for all employees and adult volunteers who work with children in the Diocese of Scranton. This training focuses on ways to make and maintain a safe environment for all children. Volunteers must also complete a background clearance.

If any parishioner or a loved one is hospitalized or homebound and he/ she would like a pastoral visit from the clergy, please call the Parish Center.

Parishioners are invited to choose

time as an individual or group in the Eucharistic Chapel. Parishioners may choose moments for rest and calm, experience silence and be refreshed by committing to an hour of prayer on a weekly basis or at least an occasional time of peace. Anyone who is interested in making reservations for either an hour or to have occasional access to the Eucharistic Chapel is asked to call Gloria at 868-5346. Though the church is locked at night, the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel is accessible 24/7.

Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
