Crestwood Grapplers Compete In District 2 Class 3A Tourney
CRESTWOOD WRESTLING TEAM competed in the District 2 Class 3A Wrestling Tournament. Crestwood competed in the Wyoming Valley Conference District 2 Class 3A Wrestling Tournament held February 21-22 at the Kingston Armory. Crestwood finished 12th in team standings with a score of 61.5. Crestwood entered the tournament with a League record of 1-5-0, 7-13-0 overall. Wyoming Valley West won the team title with 204.5 points.

Three Crestwood wrestlers advanced to Class AAA PIAA Regional Tournament based on their performances at Districts. The opening round of the Regional Tournament begins Friday at Bethlehem Liberty. They are: junior Dylan Miale (23-13) at 113, junior Dan Ritz (23-13) at 132, and senior Tyler Robinson (23-9) at 195.

Crestwood’s results at districts: 2nd seeded Tyler Robinson took second place at 195 after losing to Matt Wagner of Delaware Valley, 8-1. In the championships semifinals, Robinson advanced to the finals after earned a 7-1 decision over Jerome Haupt of Wallenpaupack.

At 113, 6th seeded Dylan Miale placed fourth after losing an 11-3 major decision to Joe Walsh of Honesdale. In the consolation semifinals Miale won by a 4-1 decision over Jimmy Forsette of West Scranton.

Also placing fourth for Crestwood was 5th seeded Dan Ritz at 132 after Chase Gallik of Wallenpaupack earned a 2-0 decision. In the championship semifinals, Ritz lost by a 4-2 decision to Travis Roper of Wyoming Valley West but defeated Jack Renninger of Abington Heights, 6-0.

At 120, Comet Seth Korch, a junior, placed sixth after a 5-2 loss to P. J. Testino of Delaware Valley in the bout for Fifth Place. In the Consolation Quarterfinals, Korch earned an 8-4 decision over Bobby Lipski of Wyoming Valley West.

Also scheduled to compete for Crestwood were senior Josh Prezkop (126), sophomore Dom Scarano (145), senior Mike Legg (152), sophomore Brett Reidinger (160), junior Luke Modrovsky (170), and junior Bryan Vargas (182).
