Kirby Library Features Special Activites Volunteer Opportunities This Month

The Marian Sutherland Kirby Library has several special events planned this month. Please call or visit to register for any program.

Homework Help with Ms. Michelle! Join Ms. Michelle every Friday from 3—5pm and she’ll help you with any homework or school projects. Even if you can’t make it on a Friday, one of our librarians is always here to help you!

Children’s Book Club: For ages 7–11! Our first meeting will be Saturday, March 22 at 1pm. Pick up a copy of our first selection, The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary at the circulation desk when you register!

Furry Tails Reading Partners! Is your child a shy or hesitant reader or do they just love to read? Visit the Library at 6:30pm on Wednesday, March 26 and your child can read to a certified therapy dog! These gentle and sweet dogs love to be read to! Call or visit to register. Child must be able to read independently.

Teen Reading Lounge: TRL is an interactive book club for teens 12 –17. Each TRL session will be held every other Tuesday at 6:30. The first book selection is The Last Apprentice and our first book discussion is Tuesday, March 18. We will have an artistic workshop based on the book on Tuesday, April 1. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk. You keep the book! Call or visit to register!

One-on-One eReader Help: Sign up for a half hour, one-on-one session on Saturday, March 22 between 9:30am and 12:30pm. Learn anything from the basics to how to download eBooks for free. Call or visit to register, space is limited.

Meet a Civil War Soldier: Experience living history as high school teacher Charles Herring portrays Civil War soldier Theodore Gerrish at the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library Tuesday, March 25 at 7:00. Listen & learn as the Union soldier from the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment relays memories of his experience fighting in the American Civil War. Volunteer Opportunity!

The Marian Sutherland Kirby library is looking for adult volunteers for a few hours per week to assist at the circulation desk (training will be provided). The library offers a friendly, pleasant atmosphere, a perfect place for meeting people whilst serving your community, if you would like to help, complete an application form located at the circulation desk, or by downloading from the library’s website: www.kirbylib.orgWe are especially in need of adult volunteers on Saturdays, either morning or afternoon shift.
