For many Pennsylvania homeowners, the first rite of spring is the chore of tackling the family closet stuffed to capacity with oversized, winter coats. Should you find an extra coat or two that you no longer need, Geisinger Blood Center (GBC) could use your help.
GBC this April asks its donors to bring their clean, gently used winter coats to its scheduled mobile drives. At month’s end, GBC will deliver the coats to Goodwill Industries, which operates numerous storefront locations in Scranton, and one in Wilkes-Barre.
“We’re promoting this coat drive
with the same passion and enthusiasm as we would do our mobile blood drives,” says Mike Quint, Geisinger Blood Center Director. “Just like one pint of blood, we feel that one coat, indeed, can make the difference in someone’s life,” he adds. “This effort, we hope, will provide strength, hope and courage to all in need.”
