Wright Township Board Addresses Personnel Matters, Awards Contracts

The Wright Township Board of Supervisors addressed personnel matters and awarded bids for the annual spring clean up at their monthly meeting on April 7, 2014.

Under new business, the board approved amendments to the Public Works Rules and Regulations as follows: Sick Leave accumulate up to 152 days in 2014 and 160 days in 2015 and 2016; Upon retirement, accumulated unused sick time will be compensated at a rate of $50 a day; Health Insurance Deductible of $500 paid by employee with the township assuming up to $2,000 (total deductible is $2,500); Medical Benefits Waiver Policy-opt out or opt in; Contributions toward health care coverage-2014-0%, 2015-1%, 2016-2% of premiums; Maximum longevity annual payment is limited to and cannot exceed $7,818.12.

The board approved a 28% increase in the wage of Public Works employee Mark A. Smith from $13.80 per hour to $17.70 per hour, effective and retroactive active to March 10, 2014.

The board also hired two seasonal employees. Gary Bella was hired as a seasonal part time laborer for park maintenance to work three days a week at $10.50 and hour with no other benefits, effective March 31, 2014. Dwight Nichols was hired as a seasonal part time worker for MACOG at $10.00 an hour.

Proposals for the May 5-10 Clean Up were received and opened on April 4, 2014. The contract was awarded to the low bidder, Stell Enterprises, for approximately 13 30-yard dumpsters at $485 per dumpster. Also accepted was Abe Solomon’s proposal
